10/990: Boring Postcards

Exploring overlooked transgressive change in urban construction, 10/990 aims do draw attention to the indifference people feel when interacting and moving through the mundane urban landscape. Engaging with a particular neighbouring building site, each image has been taken from my own bedroom window on a daily basis; selectively cataloguing, deconstructing and re-organising the site which is in a state of ongoing flux. Using the post card size and format, everything which a postcard typically represents; the Monumental, the Iconic and the Historical, is challenged and subverted. Documenting a building which will ultimately only become part of the background of the everyday urban landscape, 10/990 captures moments of a seemingly banal event, monumentalising a common occurrence in contemporary life, and questioning our position within the ever changing metropolitan environment.
